I WISH I KNEW THEN WHAT I KNOW NOW
Don't get to the end of your law school career muttering these words to yourself Take the first step toward building a productive, successful, and perhaps even pleasant law school experience--read this book
Written by students, for students, " Law School Confidential" has been the "must-have" guide for anyone thinking about, applying to, or attending law school for more than a decade. And now, in this newly revised third edition, it's more valuable than ever.
This isn't the advice of graying professors or battle-scarred practitioners long removed from law school. Robert H. Miller has assembled a blue-ribbon panel of recent graduates from across the country to offer realistic and informative firsthand advice about what law school is really like.
This updated edition contains the very latest information and strategies for thriving and surviving in law school--from navigating the admissions process and securing financial aid, choosing classes, studying and exam strategies, and securing a seat on the law review to getting a judicial clerkship and a job, passing the bar exam, and much, much more. Newly added material also reveals a sea change that is just starting to occur in legal education, turning it away from the theory-based platform of the previous several decades to a pragmatic platform being demanded by the rigors of today's practices.
"Law School Confidential" is a complete guide to the law school experience that no prospective or current law student can afford to be without.

Backlund - From All-American Boy to Professional Wrestling's World Champion (Paperback): Bob Backlund, Robert H Miller Backlund - From All-American Boy to Professional Wrestling's World Champion (Paperback)
Bob Backlund, Robert H Miller; Foreword by Roddy Piper
R347 Discovery Miles 3 470 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Bob Backlund began life as a poor farm boy in the little village of Princeton, Minnesota, with a population of just over 2,000 people. He was a below-average student with a lackluster work ethic and a bad attitude, who hung with the wrong crowd and made a lot of bad choices. He was a kid whose life was headed for disaster-until a local coach took interest in him, suggested that he take up amateur wrestling, and offered to work with him if he promised to stay out of trouble. It was in North Dakota that Bob Backlund had the first of several chance encounters that would shape his destiny. While working out at the YMCA gymnasium in Fargo, North Dakota, where he wrestled for North Dakota State, Backlund met a well-known professional wrestler, "Superstar" Billy Graham. The men talked, and at Graham's suggestion, Backlund was inspired to pursue a career in professional wrestling. Less than five years from that day, on February 20, 1978, Backlund would find himself halfway across the country, standing in the middle of the ring at Madison Square Garden with his hand raised in victory as the newly crowned World Wide Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Champion. The man Backlund pinned for the championship that night was none other than Superstar Billy Graham. Featuring contributions from Bruno Sammartino, Harley Race, Terry Funk, Pat Patterson, Ken Patera, Sergeant Slaughter, The Magnificent Muraco, George "The Animal" Steele, "Mr. USA" Tony Atlas, The Iron Sheik, and many others, this book tells the incredible story of the life and nearly forty-year career of one of the most famous men to ever grace the squared circle. Skyhorse Publishing, as well as our Sports Publishing imprint, is proud to publish a broad range of books for readers interested in sports-books about baseball, pro football, college football, pro and college basketball, hockey, or soccer, we have a book about your sport or your team. Do low income tax rates result in more job creation than do higher rates? The answer to this question is not a matter of opinion. There are historical records with facts that support or refute this premise and enable one to determine whether such a correlation actually exists. Yet the increasing staccato of voices from the right and left proclaiming their ideological viewpoint to be correct without bothering to provide any substantiation leaves the truly independent individual in a quandary. But no more. Robert H. Miller, a retired senior corporate executive and CPA, provides an unbiased, objective and most definitely non-ideological answer to that question with the facts to support it, and in a manner that can be readily understood by even the most partisan politician or beleaguered bureaucrat.

"Do You Understand What You Are Reading?" This book by Kenneth A. Pierce and Robert H. Miller is a Presbyterian Primer, one of a series of books written in non-academic style, specifically designed to reach new or previously unread Church members. It takes the time-honored principles of biblical interpretation and presents them in a way that is understandable and practical for the everyday Christian. Along the way, it tackles some tough passages of Scripture and sheds light on how to know the intended meaning and correct usage. Ken and Bob give insight into the language and culture of the Bible's writers, discuss the genre and context of the writings, and look at the impact of manuscript evidence and presuppositions on biblical interpretation. They offer suggestions on Bible versions and commentaries, as well as other study helps such as concordances and dictionaries. But most helpful are their common sense rules of observation, interpretation and application, applied to the various major divisions of Bible text: historical narrative, law, poetry, wisdom literature, the Prophets, the Gospels, the Epistles and the Revelation. The reader can gain confidence in his or her knowledge of the Scriptures simply from reading this book; and then, when the principles are applied through study, a newfound assurance and wonder will be the result.
